About me

Transit designs is on Hiatus and here is why:

Me and my family have realized a decades long dream of buying a sailboat and sailing around the mediterranean for a year or two. This is a voyage of inspiration and discovery and I hope to be back making furniture with renewed passion in the future. In the meantime you are welcome to follow our adventures on our facebook page, bobbingaboutthemed. Thanks for your interest and support in Transit designs!!

Transit Designs is founded in 2015 by me, here is why:

I accidentally discovered design at age 17. Not knowing what I wanted to do with the rest of my life I stayed in school. My options were constrained to design and physics based on previous academic adventures. I quickly abandoned physics classes to spend every spare moment in the art studio and wood/metal shop that I loved.

I achieved an "A" level design qualification which naturally led to a diploma course in art and design which led in turn to a graduate degree in Furniture Design from Nottingham Trent University.

Graduating I secured a position with a retail design consultancy and worked successfully for multiple blue chip clients. This led to a successful career in Point of Sale/Point of  Purchase design where several of my designs were awarded POPAI awards.

Personal considerations led me to forgo a director level POP design appointment in favor of emigrating to Canada. Here I restarted my career, starting as an industrial designer at BW Technologies.

Subsequently acquired by Honeywell, BW technologies restructured and I became the manager of the Mechanical Engineering group, the Industrial Design group and the Technical Writing group, finally transitioning to a strategic role as Global Honeywell User Experience Lead for Honeywell Analytics.

As my career advancement has driven me incrementally further and further from a creative role with each promotion I have finally succumbed to the overwhelming imperative to get back to creating.

Transit Designs is the fruit of a lifelong endeavor to create.
